Blackwater Polytechnic is an artist-led collective and informal educational project based in North Essex. Our mission is against the grain. We relish the messiness of life while trying to create order through challenging art, excellent fruit farming, idiosyncratic construction and wild collecting. We champion imaginative, absurdly skilful making, silence and truculent learning which is rooted in place. We seek perfection with a ‘that’ll do approach’, using expediency and high-level bodging to muddle through. We hold exhibitions when we fancy it.
