Piccalilli is an artist-led initiative, supporting early career and under-represented artists by providing a supportive framework to develop their practices with ambition and experimentation at the fore. Cultivating a supportive environment, piccalilli aims to bridge a dialogue between artists, audiences, community and place. Following an ethos where the space is centered around commissioning artworks, within an environment which acknowledges the architecture rather than ignore. Invited artists are supported to research, develop and realise projects over a dedicated period of time.
Funding:
We are funded through a yearly fundraiser. It exists to give the programmed artists the opportunity to create ambitious exhibitions, through an artist/commission fee which allows for time, research and production costs. ‘Artists Supporting Artists’ is an ethos we stand by (as an artist myself), with over 60 artists generously donating artwork to the cause each year. 100% of the sales are evenly spread across the 6 programmed exhibitions of the year following. All artworks are affordably priced between £15-£500, so everyone has the opportunity to support the programmed artists.
