Initiated and managed by artists, ÉCHOTONE is a space dedicated to artistic research. Each year, the space hosts new artist residencies and an art critic residency which are carried out over a long period of time (ranging from one to three years). Each resident is supported according to the needs of their project. The space with a total area of 130m2 is equipped with a large room of 70 m2, 4m high. A 15m2 glass roof with a professional press, a laboratory dedicated to the practice of old photographic processes, such as photoengraving on photopolymer (exposure, color and B&W enlarger, printing press), as well as another part, dedicated to chemistry (still, micro-distiller, oil press). ÉCHOTONE is also the headquarters of two associations: the LAAB, Associative Laboratory of Art and Botany, created in 2007, whose collective research is dedicated to the expressiveness of life and the platform for listing project spaces: artist-run-spaces.org. The latter, initiated in 2013, reflects on the archive and the plastic dimension of spaces dedicated to art.
